About the Podcast
As a lifelong film enthusiast, I have always enjoyed engaging with movies beyond mere entertainment value. There is something about exploring a film's themes, how they engage with and present ideas, and the myriad elements that comprise the overall picture that deepen my appreciation for cinema.
With this podcast, Do the Film Thing (DTFT), I hope to share my appreciation for films and spark the same enthusiasm in others.
Each episode of DTFT is an audio essay delving into a film's elements, from its themes, to its production history and impact, just to name a few qualities. In order to fully explore a film, there will be spoilers. However, do not let this deter you from listening! In fact, if I cover a movie that you have not seen before, I encourage you to tune in. Hopefully, you might come away eager to check out a film that has piqued your curiosity. If I happen to discuss a movie that you have seen before, you might be excited to revisit it with a renewed perspective.
DTFT is a seasonal podcast with a set number of episodes per season. New episodes will be posted on Sundays.
